About Dr. Viswanathan Iyer

Dr. Viswanathan Iyer is a highly accomplished, internationally credentialed Consultant Neurosurgeon who stands at the apex of endovascular and open cerebrovascular surgery.

He built his solid medical foundations at Grant Medical College & Sir J.J. Hospital, Mumbai, followed by a Master of Surgery at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, where he was honored as the Best Resident.

He earned his Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Neurosurgery from the prestigious Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre.

To specialize in minimally invasive neurovascular architectures, Dr. Iyer obtained an International M.Sc in Neurovascular Diseases through Mahidol University and Bicetre University-Paris, France, and completed key neurosurgical fellowships at Fujita Health University in Japan and under Prof. Anil P. Karapurkar in India.

With a stellar professional trajectory, Dr. Iyer spent three years as a leading neurosurgeon at RIPAS Hospital for the Ministry of Health in Brunei Darussalam, managing complex cranial and spinal pathologies while organizing national scientific symposia.

He has also served as a Special Assistant to legendary pioneer Prof. S. N. Bhagwati. Now serving as a Consultant Neurosurgeon across premier Mumbai health havens like Kohinoor Hospital, Lok Hospital, and Hira-Mongi Hospital, Dr. Iyer blends microvascular mastery, endovascular coil/stent techniques, and deep anatomical knowledge to provide world-class neurological interventions.

My Patient Philosophy:

  • Utilizing minimal-access endovascular pathways to treat complex brain aneurysms and vascular malformations from within the blood vessels, avoiding traditional open skull surgery whenever possible.
  • Applying rigid, peer-reviewed global scientific protocols honed across European, Japanese, and Indian neurosurgical boards.
  • Committing to absolute precision, patient transparency, and dedicated post-operative neurological rehabilitation for both emergency and elective procedures.

Education & Board Certifications

  • International M.Sc in Neurovascular Diseases: Jointly conferred by Mahidol University (Thailand) and Bicetre University-Paris, France.
