About Dr. Alap Mehendale
Dr. Alap Mehendale is a highly accomplished, forward-thinking Consultant Urologist, Robotic Surgeon, and Kidney Transplant Surgeon with a rich 27-year medical journey and over 15 years of deep urological expertise.
As a second-generation surgeon, he drew initial professional inspiration from his father, which later evolved into a dedicated focus on genitourinary super-specialization, mentored by top-tier medical educators.
Dr. Mehendale completed his MBBS at Padmashri Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, followed by an intensive General Surgery residency at Jagjivan Ram Western Railway Hospital.
Recognizing the critical need for highly refined urological care, he went on to pursue a grueling three-year super-specialty training program in Genitourinary Surgery at the world-renowned Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre.
To deliver maximum precision and minimal invasiveness, he upskilled in advanced laparoscopy and holds a formal certification in Robotic Surgery on the Da Vinci X platform.
Dr. Mehendale’s extensive practice spans critical geographic hubs across Mumbai, ensuring premium urological access from South Mumbai and Prabhadevi to Mahim, as well as throughout the Eastern Suburbs from Bhandup to Sion and Chembur to Powai.
He is an integral part of Mumbai’s medical fabric, maintaining active clinical privileges at elite tertiary institutions including Jaslok Hospital, Breach Candy Hospital, Wockhardt Hospital, and Hiranandani Hospital.
Beyond his operative capabilities, he is a respected academician who shapes the future of Indian urology by training, guiding, and mentoring DrNB Urology and FNB Renal Transplantation fellows.
My Patient Philosophy:
Adopting a strictly holistic paradigm that prioritizes treating the patient as a whole human being, rather than analyzing an isolated set of symptoms or lab investigations.
Placing equal medical weight on exhaustive bedside clinical examinations and advanced, high-definition radiological or biochemical imaging.
Practicing strict evidence-based medicine, ensuring that patients are offered only well-proven, verified technological protocols while discouraging experimental approaches.
Empowering patients through thorough, transparent counseling regarding all available medical paths, explicitly detailing realistic outcomes, pros, cons, and potential complications to facilitate true informed consent.
Building long-term diagnostic relationships anchored in mutual trust, while warmly encouraging patients to seek secondary opinions whenever an added layer of clinical reassurance is desired.
