About Dr. Amit Karad

Dr. Amit Karad is a Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon specializing in advanced heart failure management, organ transplantation, total arterial beating-heart bypass surgery, and complex aortic reconstructions. He earned his M.Ch. in Cardio-Vascular & Thoracic Surgery from Nair Hospital, Mumbai (where he secured 3rd rank in Maharashtra and served as an Assistant Professor), following a Master of Surgery (M.S.) degree where he ranked 1st in the university.

Dr. Karad completed an advanced fellowship in Cardiovascular Surgery, Advanced Heart Failure, and Transplantation at Toronto General Hospital, Canada. Trained under global cardiac pioneers including Dr. Tirone David and Dr. Vivek Rao, he gained extensive experience in ventricular assist device (VAD/artificial heart) implantations, valve-sparing aortic root repairs, and complex revascularization.

Notably, he was among the early surgical fellows involved in performing a beating-heart bypass surgery concomitantly with a lung transplant at Toronto General Hospital. Dr. Karad currently serves as a Consultant Cardiovascular Surgeon across major tertiary care institutions in Mumbai, including Jaslok Hospital, Saifee Hospital, and Holy Family Hospital.
